Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - DEI

At Rotary, we're committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect, allowing everyone's voice to be heard, and providing equitable opportunities for fellowship, service, and leadership.

Our members want and expect Rotary to be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. Although the Rotary experience may differ from country to country, issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are globally relevant.

We embrace the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We recognize that being a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization will enhance the experience that members have in Rotary, allow us to carry out more meaningful and effective service efforts, and create open, welcoming environments that appeal to people who want to connect with us. Through the work of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council, we are taking action to follow these principles in everything we do.

What is Diversity?

Diversity is the presence of differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective.

Populations that have been-and remain- underrepresented among practitioners in the field and marginalized in the broader society.

In a Club, we must ensure that all the parts of the community is reflected in our membership roster, so we can truly represent the community as a whole.

What is Equity?

Equity promotes justice, impartiality, and fairness within institutions or systems' procedures, processes, and distribution of resources.

Tackling equity issues requires understanding the root causes of outcome disparities within the organization.

What is Inclusion?

Inclusion is an outcome to ensure those that are diverse actually feel welcomed. Inclusion outcomes are met when you, your institution, and your program are truly inviting to all.

To the degree to which diverse individuals are able to participate fully in the decision-making processes and development opportunities within an organization or group.
